Sumi's Ameen Party

Picture
MashAllah MashAllah, my little princess Sumi completed reciting Quran for the first time in her life. Its an outstanding accomplishment not only for herself but for our entire family especially her parents who were consistant and supportive to help her achieve this goal. Event accompanied after this accomplishment is called Ameen. Entire family, friends and community members join to celebrate this happy occasion. weather was beautiful and covid was under some control plus plan was to do it outdoor.

Setup

Staged this event as a "BREAKFAST IN BED" Sumi's backyard was the perfect place to hold the event. Breakfast tables were placed on white round table cloths, surrounded with bed pillows.  Assembled couple of tents ( luckily all three were belongs to us one from QB's room, One from Bj's wedding and one was Sumi's from TARGET) around the area but decorated Sumi's tent little more festive with a fur stool, cane pumpkin, and a rainbow sign.
Setup food  serving area on the deck and eating  area below the deck. As you can see we used the same vases, beads and placemats from Zainy's aqeeqah. i love my wooden party chairs, I  bought many many years ago from Craigslist and they been the best investment ever. All year long they haul from places to places but still in excellent condition.

Cousin's House Warming

Picture
Dr HC and Nazli are the very dear cousins of mine from maternal side. They just moved to their new home and i am very happy for their beautiful home.May Allah bless their new home and family.
Nazli requested me to help her plan and arrange for this beautiful gathering. I have one pillow at home to begin with. I started building my theme of colors and decided to go for a fall pale colors. Soft green, pale yellow, deep violet and coral  Since the seating was on the floor I choose trays from TARGET and added candles, fall flowers and Little wooden houses. Everything on the tray was from TARGET SPOT ITEMS (love to stop by first  there before any theme party) Added some pillows as well to make it cozy and more festive. Main pillows were from TARGET and remaining were from Home Goods and HOME Sense. For the spread i used white king size sheets from ROSS for Less.
Appetizers were all made by Nazli and we catered food from Afghan Kabob. Most of the desserts were from Costco but we got cake made by a local baker. DELICIOUS!!!
Wait I didnt mentioned the part i loved the most about that get together was an Islamic Nasheed by my cousin Dr Sahib.

Sumi's  AT HOME Ameen

Sumi is  special by many means but the most prominent one is as being a first born grand duaghter made her the most special of all. She is one loving soul who loves to be around her family. She mashaAllah completed reciting Holy Quran (God's final revelation for Muslims) Sumi just turned 10 and we are very proud of her commitment towards learning to recite Holy Quran. She is also enrolled in a class to memorize different parts of Quran so she can implement those verses while performing her five daily prayers.I pray that this book enlighten her heart and open her mind to be the most pious and educated person. Ameen
Thanks to YS Mamoo for making this event festive with his BBQ talents. YS is the best Mamoo and

the is the ONLY Mamoo they have!

Sumi got a heart necklace from me which was given to me by my grandmother. My grand mother Aziz Begum was the most influential Dadi of her times. She didn't received any formal education but she was full of wisdom. Learned many things from her.She was also the most generous she gave me this necklace because i used to put this necklace in my mouth while she held me in her arms. It has little dents from my childhood teeth. Now it belongs to Sumi and i wish one day when she become a grandmother she be as wise and as generous like her. Ameen

QB AQEEQAH

Around The World Theme
Picture
QB’s Aqeeqah ( celebration on a birth of a child in the family)
QB is my fourth grandchild MashaAllah. He was no less special than other three. We themed his celebration Welcome To The World. QB’s father loves maps and globes so we thought it will be good theme for QB and his Baba.Collecting all these maps and globes were bit a challenge but family of crafters and Amazon Prime possibilities are unlimited. Maps on the background are from a fabric store Yes fabric store 😇 we used them as table runners as well. Oh Did I mentioned where did this event took place? The most beloved place
ADAMS
All Dulles Area Muslim Society) in its newly build community center
Beside all the crafts fpr the event. Desert table was the center of attraction to the guests. The main cake was made by QB's Lala thats a QB version of Khala meaning sister of his mom. Beside Lala's skills as an Aerospace engineer she also runs a cake business. To place an order email sweetsujood@gmail.com or follow her on Instagram #sweetsujood. Globe cake pops and cookies were made by a friend. Oyester cookies and cupcakes were made by QB's mom another baker of our family. She is always under the baking critique by her siblings but was also the one who gets all the sweet craving requests.

Party favors
when it comes to select a party favors we want to have something which is kids friendly as well as enjoyed by adults. Stress relieve globe balls were ordered through Amzon. Left overs are heading to QB's Grandma Pediatric office.  on the side, i am trying that QB  be greatly influenced by family of doctors hoping he will fulfill my dream

Party Favors
As being all of us Sunday School teachers creating a children crafts is piece of cake for us. Turning these Styrofoam balls from Michaels into globes was one of then easiest but the adorable craft. this is how we set up. i wish i have a tutorial clip Any how
Things you need
Styrofoam balls
Elmers Glue
Small cups
Form brushes
Blue and green tissue papers or streamer paper
( The reason for using the streamer paper was that we already have those at home but they end up a better choice because they were thicker and easy for tiny hands to hold and paste)

Banners

Found these world map themed wrapping paper at TJmaxx to make banners. Be creative to make these in different shapes and designs. we also added stick on gold letters from Michael to make it more festive

Handmade Natural Honey Soaps

Here is our extra tutorial on the party favors we made for the baby shower-  handmade natural honey soap. I ordered a honeycomb mold and made the soap out of honey. I let the mixture sit in the mold overnight to harden into a soap bar consistency. We also got gift tags and stamped a bee on there along with a label that said:
"For a Bee-utiful Friend
100% Natural and Handmade Honey Soap
Baby B 2018"

Baby B Baby Shower

9/15/2018

Back in September my two elder daughters and I organized a baby shower for my third daughter's first baby, and my fourth grand baby! The theme had to do with honey bees. We had so much fun planning this with several DIY projects.

We setup camp in my sun room, and started off by placing quilting hoops wrapped in artificial ivy on each window. For the table setting, I laid green tule down the middle as a table runner and placed a variety of honey spreads on the table. Along with that, we wrapped large candles in the artifical ivy to decorate the tables.
